Four pillars of basement is a psycho thriller that shows human frailties and capricious nature. It is about an innocent, pretty female executive stranded in the basement of a Commercial Complex after office hours who experiences unfortunate situations.
The protagonist Sameer (Dillzan Wadia) is a conniving person. He works as a security officer in a mall and has a big crush on Riya (Aalya Singh) who is an executive working in one of the offices in the mall.
Much to Riya’s ignorance, her regular routine is tracked by lecherous males working within in her office as well by some in the security staff of the car park area in the basement.
Sameer’s twin brother a lunatic and manages to escape from the mental hospital to add more confusion to the plot.
Riya is unaware of unfriendly surprises awaiting her in the basement of her office building. She is instructed to stay a bit late in her office by her boss on that on an ill-fated Diwali evening. While leaving, she gets stranded in the basement with a flat tyre and then begins her journey experiencing unexpected creepy characters and such never thought of weird circumstances. Whosoever comes to help her meets with a tragic death.
There are some horrifying moments in the film, a special mention of that realistic sequence when Riya trips upon a dead body while locked inside a room, unable to fathom the surroundings of that closed room, and to make the matters worse, the maniac infuses the room with dangerous gas which is emitted through the air vent.
Another character worth a mention is that of Kaal (Ravi Gadriya), an insane friend of the Security guard who appears dirty and sick, yet actually is a harmless character.
After watching this film, one wonders about how safe are the girls and females of our family from the eyes of lechers around us? This is least expected from those friendly looking people who secretly harbor dirty feelings about us.
Dillzan Wadia appears much acceptable as compared to his earlier releases which are best forgotten. The boy is talented, yet he is made to scream loud in those overstretched patches in the second half. Dillzan’s spontaneous and frequent bursting into humming old songs adds peculiarity in his psychotic behavior.
Considering it is her debut film, Aalya Singh does fairly enough. She does manage to emote fear quite well in parts.
The film has a curiosity element and could have been much better if it would have had better screenplay and crisp editing.
